ABOUT CHRISTOPHER PETERS

Welcome to CJPMusic, your one-stop destination for all things music! As a Musical Director, Vocal Coach, Composer, and Instrumentalist, Christopher is dedicated to creating and curating exceptional musical experiences. With a passion for excellence and a commitment to creativity, he strives to bring out the best in every project he undertakes.

Christopher has trained as a singer from a young age, starting as a treble chorister and working with numerous choirs and conductors, including Sir Carl Davis. His training in music and as a musician only started when he began learning saxophone in his teens, but quickly progressed to being a principal musician at school. His training in Musical Theatre began in sixth form and through university where he claimed the role of Musical Director on many small shows and cabarets. During his time at City University London, his principal performance studies were conducted at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama.

Since graduating Christopher has worked in Musical Theatre consistently, musical directing, teaching singing and composing for stage and screen. He has taught on vocational Musical Theatre courses at some of the top drama school sin the UK including Arts Educational Schools London and Italia Conti. Christopher has also held the post of Music Director for Hambledon Productions since 2015.

Over the last 15 years, Christopher has mostly worked with young adults in theatre, which has helped him get a better understanding of how the young voice works and develops. This has allowed him to give better 1-2-1 tuition and helped him shape the vocals of full scale productions, giving him the knowledge to make allowances when needed. It is important to Christopher that young adults get the appropriate training early on, especially in the pursuit of a full time career in the performing arts, because it sets a foundation of good technique and stage craft, as well as gaining and maintaining good vocal health. He has a real passion for working with young people to inspire and create a drive of the importance of performing arts within them.

He appreciates that not all students learn in the same way, and always tries to adapt his teaching style to help all students, especially when it comes to 1-2-1 singing lessons. Christopher doesn’t have one technique or style in which he teaches. He is always willing to learn and develop his teaching to get the best from students and himself, taking part in regular workshops and continued CPD.
